 Where does the Money from the Lottery go?
After the prize money has been awarded to the wining players, commissions paid to retailers, and other operating costs are satisfied, all Lottery net revenue is transferred to the state School Aid Fund to support public education programs in Michigan (K-12).

 How long does a winner have until they have to claim their prize?
For Michigan on-line games(Powerball, Mega Millions, Classic Lotto 47, Keno, Fantasy 5, Lucky Lines, the Daily Games, Raffles and Club Keno), winners have one year from the draw date to collect their prize.

For Michigan Lottery instant games, winners have until the expiration date listed on the back of the ticket to collect their prize.
 
 What happens to unclaimed prize money?
According to law, all unclaimed Michigan Lottery prizes ( or portions of Powerball or Mega Millions prize funded by Michigan) revert back to the state School Aid Fun.
 
 Can I remain anonymous if I choose to?
The Michigan Legislature enacted Public Act 243 in 1988 which gives winners of prizes greater than $10,000 the right to remain anonymous. However, Powerball and Mega Millions winners are exempt from this act. The names and cities of residence for all Michigan Lottery Powerball winners (including the jackpot) are considered public record.
